The story behind Vitamin B-Complex
Long before the term vitamin was imagined, people had recognized that certain foods possessed vital nutrients necessary for good health. In the late 1880s, Christiaan Eijkman began searching for these nutrients to help fight beriberi. In 1926, he found what he was looking for with a substance later named vitamin B1. This kicked off a frenzy of research across the globe, leading to the discovery of 7 other B vitamins over the following two decades. With evidence of prehistoric use, rose hips is one of the oldest natural remedies. Ancient Romans, Greeks, Persians and Chinese all appreciated its health benefits, and the British used it as a vitamin C supplement during World War II. Acerola cherry isn’t really a cherry, it just looks like one. Native to the tropical regions of the Western Hemisphere, its been used in traditional medicine to support liver and digestive health as well as coughs and colds.
